New troubles
Cycled the key on/off several times to refill fuel. Long cranking times and very rough idle with tonnes of black smoke. Figured that was the system getting oil back into the injectors.
Drove around that day fine. Let the truck sit for 2 days and I tried to fire her up last night and took me 10min of cranking to get it to start. Just cranking & puking out black smoke but no start.
Finally got it started and sounded like it was on 1/2 the cyl and lots of black smoke. 1-2min of lumpy idling and then it smoothed out and ran fine for my trip into town. Started fine at all my stops in town.
Heading out of town this wknd with the travel trailer and would like to know what is going on with my truck.
Why would I be having so many issues after just an oil change? Is there anything I can check?? There is no DTC at this time.
You say you did this - for how long did you leave the key in the ON position before you recycled it again? You should leave the key in the ON position for about a minute each time, then recycle once or twice to refill the system with fuel and displace the air.
Parked for 2 days and then even harder time to start. At least 10 min of cranking and it just chugged and puked black smoke. Fianally got it to fire up and it was another 1-2min of rough idle/black smoke. Drove around town again.
So I will see what it does for starting when I get home tonight. I think something is loosing press when it sits for long periods.
Went out camping this wknd and hauling the 28' TT. Truck was still hard to start but once going ran fine. Went to come home Mon and the truck wont start up. Cranks over and dumps black smoke but no start. Draine dthe batteries trying to start so even tried boosting with another diesel, both batteries hooked to jumpercables. Cranked till it couldnt crank anymore
Towed to the dealer and left trailer at the site. Now its a 2wk wait till they can look at the truck.

Will update once I know more.
