I need some recommendations on a set of new tires for my 2002 F-450. The sidewalls are beginning to show little signs of cracking and I,d like to start looking for their replacements now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike.
It depends on the driving you are doing. With a F-450 I assume you are using it for hauling and not so much for off-road.
I use my truck for farm work and only occasionally need to get out of the mud or sand. I find most of my driving is really on-road with or without a load. Now that I live in the south, I really don't care how it handles the snow. My previous choices had to consider all driving conditions.
I currently have Mickey Thompson MXT radials which I like less than the Nitto Terra Grapplers I had before. Just got better ride with the Nitto's and they seemed to get better fuel mileage. Next time around I'll probably look at the BFG A/T or the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos.
There are many write-ups on this site talking about each of those and many others.
Thanks for the help. I think I,ll try the Goodyear Silent Armor. Most all of my driving is towing my 5th wheel. I don,t go off road much.
Thanks Again
Mike
I don't think Silent Armors come in a 19.5" wheel size.....at least they don't list one.
I run Hankooks on our 99 F-450, all the others are still on the originals.
This information is correct. Though, the Wranglers are an amazing tire and I love them to death, your best bets are going to be:<TABLE id=maintable cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=920 summary="" border=1><TBODY><TR class=trdata align=middle><TD align=middle width=75> Michelin</TD><TD align=middle width=120> XDE M/S</TD><TD align=middle width=75> 225/70R19.5 </TD><TD align=middle width=50> $288.27</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
<TABLE id=maintable cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=920 summary="" border=1><TBODY><TR class=trdata align=middle><TD align=middle width=75> Goodyear</TD><TD align=middle width=120> UNISTEEL G124</TD><TD align=middle width=75> 225/70R195 </TD><TD align=middle width=50> $272.27</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Prices are based on Ford Motor Company's "Around the Wheel Program." I would recommond those tires, and maybe consider a Hankook AH11.
