Header Longshot

Hey 67-72 guys- Any chance that anyone has tried to (or has) used a set of 12504 Flowtechs for 80-95 f-series in a 76 with a 351W and a C-6? I did a forum search and it was fascinating but no help on this question. I may, however be able to make a few bucks betting people that you can use a set out of an '87 T-Bird! ( Or at least that's what one member claimed!) Thanks guys and if you ever save up enough for a newer truck, I'll see ya on the 80-86 forum

Not a chance, we figure a truck is still worth something untill it gets at least 36 years old! ( I hope you realize this is just tongue in cheek B.S.)

For the headers, I'd look at Summit(Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030), I found a complete exhaust kit (headers, mufflers, pipe, hangers, etc.) for my 302 w/ a C-4 and it was under 300. You just put in what you're lookin for than narrow it down by your make, model, and year and the you can narrow it down further by engine, cab, etc.

I've been to Summit a couple of hundred times and I have their paper catalog. I can tell you they don't have the proper headers. As far as I know, no one makes headers specifically for the 67-72 F100's with a 351W and a C6. They make them for 302's and I've read several threads discussing the problems involved in using them with the 351W. However, finding the right set of headers has nothing to do with this thread whatsoever. I have a set of Flowtechs and a guy who lives 30 miles or so from me has the truck. Once he gets the motor stabbed, I'll have to make the trip to see if he can use them or not. Not really wanting to make a 60 mile round trip for nothing. O.K.?

I ordered in and tried two sets of headers and a set of shorties for the 351W in my 69 with 4-speed. None of them would come close to clearing. I put a 302 back in and I am dropping the 351W into the wifes mustang.

You will want to get there before he stabs the motor. I don't think you will get the headers in after the motor is in.

I told him not to bolt down the starter side. If he want's the headers it'll be his problem getting them in. As they aren't sold yet, Bolting them on and then dropping the motor isn't an option. They should go in though, tons of people buy headers for upgrades and they don't pull the motors to install them. The motor has to be in the bay to see if there are any clearance issues first, be almost impossible to tell with it out.
