So, i just bought a 94' reg cab f150 4.9l doing some work to it.
I have replaced oil pan, and valve cover, including all new gaskets.
bolted down the upper plenum realized i had a vacuum leak because of the high rev.
Anyway, i went to re-tighten the bolts on the intake when i heard a loud snap as the lower intake broke, (vacuum line caught between upper and lower intake)
I am in the process of removing the lower intake. Injectors, vacuum lines, injector rail have all been removed as well as all the bolts that mount the intake to the engine. Although i cant seem to get past the egr valve it happens to be conveniently placed through the center of the intake.
My guess is that the heat of the exhaust will make removing it a challenge.
Yeah, that bolt gets stuck on there really good. I think I crawled under the truck and got to it from there. My state isn't in the rust belt, so if you live there, be prepared to use lots of penetrating oil, heat, and cheater bars.
the lower intake is broken, i could try jb weld it but id rather change it out.
i took the pass. front tire off and tried to get at the egr through the fender well, but i guess i have to take off the fender well as well haha.
i was trying to get the egr off up by where it connects to the intake but im afraid ill bend the pipe. i have two cans of pb blaster dont worry about that. i may put a cheater bar on my cresent wrench and go to town. a torch would be nice but maybe not that close to the feed and return lines.
but i dont quite under stand what you mean "optikal illushun"
i just moved the lower on the EGR line but i guess u cant do that.
put a shield over the fuel lines and use a propane torch. after its hot use some ATF in a dropper and drip it on the threads. that usually works to get rusted parts loose.
i am going to cut the old egr pipe off and get a new one along with a new lower intake.
but i was wondering if there was anyway to get some extra power out of these old 4.9l's i have read about switching the old 12psi injectors out with 19psi,
where would i find 19psi injectors for cheap? does ford use them on other models that i could use on my 4.9l?
