Question Overdrive Off Light Won't Come On

I have a 1997 f250. When I turn off the overdrive the light on the shifter don't come on.Can it be the light or is there something else wrong? Can you change the bulbs in these things?
Thanks

Those are notorious for the switches going out. Usually replacing that will fix the problem.

OK, the light does not come on but, does the OD dis-engage and re-engage as you push the button?

If so, then you need a bulb, if not then you may well need as switch.

HEADS_UP

It makes no sense to cut the wires for no reason.

So be aware that with a new switch other problems may appear. Maybe the PO cut them to prevent the unit from being engaged or dis-engaged due to a problem in the transmission itself.

Yeah, it just pulls right off. You need to remove that cap, which you will probably break so don't worry about it. Then it just plugs right in.
