need to change rotors and pads they have 50k more miles on it,and the rotors were turned once already....so im thinking change them??
i dont want to walk into a brake place or ford to find out if i need rotors or not......every time you walk in to have 1 thing done they try and sell you that 4 things are wrong..........i have done rotors and pads before
what am i looking at??? (not price....but anything i should know about the brakes on a ranger).....is it all standard for most vehicles I.E. clips for the pads etc......rotors just slide on the lug nutz
There's another thread with plenty of opinions further down. If you're just doing a basic job & the rotors aren't getting scraped at all & the bearings smooth and snug, just change the pads. Probably should use the break the bleeder technique to push the pistons back in before assembly. Then bleed the air out afterward. And make sure the pistons move easily. Just get a can of brake kleen & appropriate slider lube with the pads. Before doing the job, read the thread for another fella.
ill will check it out....but also forgot to tell you that the rotors are grinding,so i know that i have grooves in them.....would have changed em weeks ago....but with finances and such etc...you all know what im talking about
i forgot about the bleeding part of the brakes...man its probably been a good 6-7 years since ive done brakes
The only item to be aware of (and I'm not certain if it is a worry or not) but you like have 4 wheel ABS and thus there is a speed sensor in each front wheel. The VSS is magnetic and sits close to the rotor to monitor rotation. People have had problem that with aftermarket rotors the VSS will not detect the tone ring on the rotor.
