prevent head issues

Can one install arp studs before you have problems that lead to extenuating problems? I.E. warped heads. How much does it cost to have it done? If a person has issues, I assume I will have to ask the dealer to check the flatness of the heads. My truck is stock for now!

Yes you can install them before you have problems however, if you ask the dealer to do it and you don't have any issues, they will most likely deny you or charge you 5x more than what's reasonable. Another mechanic that specializes in aftermarket modifications to diesel trucks will charge about $2000+.

I would definitely talk to your dealer before opening up the engine at another garage. I can see a voided warrenty. ARP's are definitely the cure!

Yes that is the unfortunate downside to trying to protect your own motor. Ford will most likely not pay to have your truck studded and while there might be a chance they will do the work, it's pretty slim as this is asking them to install non-FORD parts into your engine and would give them an excuse should anything go wrong down the road.

I'd say your best bet is to wait and see if (or "when" is more likely) it happens and find a dealer that will use the ARP studs instead of the Ford bolts when they replace the gaskets.
