Intercooler Boot Upgrade Question

got my MBRP 4" exhaust today; last Friday the AFE Stage 2 came in; Jody said the DP Tuner is on its way and the gauges from ITP should be here anyday now. YAHOO!!!

Question: I also ordered the CCV kit from ITP and plan to install this the same time I put of the AFE. I then want to clean up the intercooler pipes (incl. the foil delete) but looking at possibly replacing the boots that hook the pipes up to the turbo and then to the intercooler. I would like to get a different color; maybe red but all I have seen are black and blue. Anyone know about other colors?

Also, there are only 4 boots total (pipes to turbo - 2 + pipes to intercooler - 2), correct?

Thanks for the input.

Not sure on other boot colors. Might have to wait for someone else who will know more than I since I got black boots. There are a total of 6 boots 2 under the turbo to intake, 2 at the intercooler, and the other 2 by the turbo on the intercooler pipes. I got the Dieselsite boots and they are quality products, would highly reccomend them to you if you will settle for black boots.

Thanks Jamin, you provided the answer I was looking for; the other two boots. Now I know what the sites are talking about. I will keep looking for other colors, but if not I will probably order the ones from DieselSite.

These are similiar to the ones I got. The first ones are from turbo to intercooler pipes along with the spider. http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=133
These second ones are for a stock intercooler to inercooler pipes. http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=228
I say similiar because I now have a 6.0 intercooler.

They are high quality and come with extra clamps, also. I bough mine about a month ago and will probably be putting them on during my vacation days after Labor Day. I have seen some blue bumped hose ones, but looked similar to the stock ones in construction.

I recommend the Diesel Site boots. They are thick and tough. I don't get any oil residue out of them and I don't have the CCV mod.

And when you put them on dont try to take them off. It is like they are superglued on my truck.

Mr. Bob's Silicone Hoses

Has anyone tried these hoses or has anyone heard good or bad? I saw these in an article in Diesel Power Magazine. Mr Bob's Silicone Hoses - 7.3 Ford Powerstroke Silicone Hoses and Turbo Hose Kits
I can tell by looking at the price they're a lot more expensive than the ones listed above but they are including more hoses and hardware. I was just curious though if they were similar or not before plunking down that much dough!
Thanks!

I think those silicone hoses are like the original ones on the truck and are not necessarily rated for oil residue and stuff. Although they may be a good product I have not seen them before, and thats alot of money!

if you plan on a bigger turbo pushing over 30 psi boost you will want Bob's boots on dieselsite..they are rated at 50 PSI...them blue boots are like the stock boots..when they start to get old they get flimsy and crack.. at that point you go much over 25 lb boost they will split..
Bob's boots are marine boots used in the exhaust system...heat doesn't age them much..they should last a very long time..and when thay are put on..you cant move the IC pipes..them boots have a very stong grip...
