Hello guys i have a Question...Has anybody try the heavy duty headlight harness from lmc....I am thinking about upgrading the harness..would like your thoughts and if anybody did this....Thanks
I can't comment on that particular model's quality, but significant gains can be seen by installing this kind of setup. Instead of drawing all the power through the headlight switch, the headlight switch turns on a relay which powers the headlights through heavier-duty wiring. Many people like to increase the gauge of the headlight power feed at the same time they install a relay setup, which can help direct more voltage at the headlights (less drop on the wiring itself). This particular model doesn't seem to say anything about making them brighter. I'd try to check with LMC on what gauge they use to power the headlights. If it's the same as the stock size, I wouldn't bother with it. The opportunity to use larger wire and hence squeeze some more candlepower out of the headlights is really the main advantage to doing the relay upgrade. That's the main reason people do it. But on a stock setup, there isn't any reason to direct power away from the headilght switch, because it's rated to handle the current. The old-style Ford setup has worked for decades and counting.

Yep FMC nailed it...Sorry F.O.R.D., I'm always skeptical though of things that come from LMC, and they will never get my business again. I'd rather sandpaper the azz hole of an alligator in a telephone booth. If it were me I would look for a comparable piece from elsewhere. Normally what I do with LMC is get the idea (like the harness you posted) and then look at other companies that specialize (or at least are more reputable) in said area.
Yea i hear ya....I been lucky the parts i order from them so far....

I'm typically skeptical as well on this type of thing. About the time I got it, I also decided to make my own harness. Got it put together following the schematics from Daniel Stern lighting and the article posted above, and spent all one afternoon trying to get it to work. Never did, I suspect I was missing a ground somewhere just don't know where it might have been. Then tried the one I got from LMC and it worked.
As far as the LMC harness, it's fairly straightforward, mine was a little short and I think I had to add some wire to reach to headlights, though I could be wrong. I would check it, but I'm driving the 05 today.
