Hey guys, would you use parts store Goodyear Fuel injection hose to run an in-line EFI pump or do you think it's worth the hassle of running steel lines? What size would be ideal?
I have an MSD 2225 fuel pump coming in Wed. and I need to start gathering everything for the new efi setup.
Personally, I would run the hard lines, but that's a big job and you need the right tools and the right fittings. A potential 90psi is pretty high so all your joints will need to be spot on otherwise you'll have nasty petrol showers all over the shop
You'll need a return line and a regulator also if you don't have them already. EFI fuel pumps generally don't like being run dry so you'll need to mount it low, possibly even run a low pressure high volume pump to feed it.
Some high performance setups use an external surge tank fed by a low pressure pump with a return line to the main tank. The surge tank is always kept full and the efi pump draws from it.
Your line sizing will be determined by your pump, 3/8 inlet and 5/16 outlet. Return line should be 3/8 at least.
