1966 Power Steering, Steering Column Question

I have a 1966 F100 with cruise-o-matic, 352 setup. I would like to move to the ford power steering setup and disc brakes. I have heard that switching to the ford steering box I will need a shorter steering column.

Will a 1969 steering column that is an automatic transmission setup be the right length?

Does it matter if the 1969 donor had power steering or not?

My goal is to have the truck as original looking as possible while having some of the modern niceties, so I want the shifting and the steering wheel/column to look correct.

thanks

Scott, you can use the 67-79 steering box, and 67-72 steering column ( steering column 73-79 can be use with slight modification).

I came across an article on the subject 'How to install power steering in a 65-72 Ford 2wd pickup. Unfortunately it's in another Ford truck forum and forum protocol prevents me from posting the web page. I will pm the site, if it does not take, you can locate the info by running a search under '67-72Ford pickup resource. Suggest review some of the other articles, very informative and lot of info covers the 65-66.

what I was wondering though was are all steering columns from 1969 the length I will need?

Was power steering standard in 1969?

Im getting the steering box and the steering column from separate places, so I don't know if the steering column was from a truck with power steering or not.

thanks
