Hi all,
This is not nearly as technical as much of the content of this forum, but I have tried over and over to find the spare tire jack on my 2001 F350 Supercab Shortbed and have nopt found it. I checked the manual, it says on supercabs with a rear bench (that's me) it is fastened to to floorpan under the rear passenger's side seat. I lifted the seat, looked under the truck and couldn't find anything. WHERE IS IT?
Thanks,
Jack
Actually, I find the stock jack to be VERY useful ... it's easy to raise the vehicle with it, and it stows away VERY nicely.
The problem is, you need a block of wood to use it
I find that trying to crank them up is a pain because they always want to tip over and jump around..
The hydraulic jacks just stand where you put them and in a few pumps of the handle they are ready to lift.. Plus the screw out extension makes a block of wood not necessary...

I put a block of wood under it and turn the **** by hand to fit it snug up against the axle. Then, using the extensions from under the hood and the tire iron, it's easy to lift the wheel off the ground. Snugging it up against the axle is the key.
I've used it many times for routine maintenance like brakes or rotating tires.
I also use a bottle jack and carry that on long trips, but the stock jack is definitely worth having.
