Will not start Only clicks
I have a 94 ranger with 3.0 and a manual trans.
No problems with it until yesterday I shut it off at the gas station and it would not start only click.A couple guys helped pushing me off and it started.So I got it home.Put battery on the charger all night.
Checked the fender relay voltage and it is 12 in and 12 out when trying to start.But starter does nothing.I checked fuses there all good.I took starter out an hooked it to jumper cables and it will turn.So now I'm lost. It acts like maybe a ground but I left starter hooked up under the truck and ran a ground and still only thing I hear it the fender relay clicking very loudly.Any Ideas?I'd try about anything

Thanks for the replies guys 
I took starter to autozone they checked it on there machine.
First test past as good 2nd test failed so tried new starter and working good now.It was confusing the crap out of me because starter would work sometimes when jumped with booster cables and sometimes it would not. And the fender relay was clicking soo loud I kept thinking that was the problem are that there was some type of safety switch issue but its fine now.
