trans question...
ok goin down the highway today and when i was at 65 i just tapped the brake and my rpms went from about 1800 to 2k.... i was like what? it was almost like it downshifted is this the tq locking up or somethin? oh and at 70mph i was runnin about 2k rpm thats bout normal true...

2k at 70 is pretty much what the 7.3 excursion runs, 3.73 gears..... My guess is that rpm spiked a bit when the converter unlocked. The closest parrallel I can draw is manual trans related... assume you did not have a clutch shutoff switch on the cruise of a manual... disengage the clutch, engine load goes down, rpm goes up without a throttle change. Something mey be slower at reacting to engine load changes on cruise or it may be a sign of a problem...I am sure those wiser than I will chime in shortly.
