Question how do I remove front motor mount?

Sounded easy---it is a 1964 ford yblock 292 and the front mount is all loose--but do I need to take off front pulley to get it off? My 272 mount came right off!!! Any help would be appreciated......thanks Bill

If I remember correctly the damper prevents removal of one or two of the front mount bolts. So remove damper, support engine and remove front mount. Kevin did you go to the big event last weekend?

I was there, won one round of street and won one round of Y blocks. Didnt break anything, but ran slow. I was all over from low 17's to 17.93. Had a GREAT time, wish you'd come one of these years!

Is 17s fast for a yblock? I raced 440 6 pac roadrunners and turned 12s. I would rather use my trucks for hauling. I do not think of racing my 56s....rather cruise the back roads...................Bill

To me the time isnt important, but instead the fact that Bigwin participated in the big annual event and had a blast doing it.

46yblock--that is true. I just thought 17s were kind of slow--for racing. I would not figure to race my 56 f100s. I am glad he participated in something. I guess 17s are fast for a 56. Bill

What I like doing the most in my ride is Interstate 5 here in S. Oregon. Cruising 68-70, and going up the long steep mountain passes, hearing the motor work, and watching the vacuum gauge as more throttle is needed to maintain the speed.

I drove through Oregon a few yrs ago when I lived in Ca...It is beautiful!!!
I drove my 63 stude avanti and the supercharger would whine up the mtn...and was a great drive. Saw alot of places most travelers don't see....ended up bringing home a super-bee in Rosylyn,Washington to Ohio....the looks were awesome.
Ienjoy driving my 71 f100 all over--and it is a great cruiser-302/c4 and p.s. p.b. and no other ammenities......that's a great time!!! Bill

Well I am trying to decide to install the 292 into the 56f100 or install a 351 and auto into it.
I finished frame and want to install engine next--and then the cab.
The frame came with the crossmembers and the fmx trans still in it--but I removed them.
I found out that the 3 speed in 1964 is not going to bolt up easily. So what should I do?
1. RE-INSTALL THE CROSSMEMBERS and Install a 351 and fmx or a c4/c6?
2. Install the 64 yblock 292 and buy the 3 speed and driveshaft for 300.00?
3. This 292 has a 2100 series 2 barrel like on my 71 f100----can I exchange /swap this manifold and carb on the other 56 with the 272 and the smaller 2 barrel?
I am in limbo on this till I decide and so tell me the easiest engine deal to do. Thank you Bill

OK here you go #1 question answer is NO. #2 question answer is YES. #3 question answer is YES.

The EXACT details on the 64 trans. It will fit and bolt up, but, on the shifter cover on the drivers side there are supposed to be two bosses cast into the cover for the clutch arm to bolt to. I have seen it done but it takes some fab work and they never seen to be as good as the original

To use the 272 carb and intake the throttle linkage must line up with to the carb on the pass side of the carb and the 2100 series (any time I have used them) I use a 6 cylinder throttle pedal linkage as it lines up with the linkage on the drivers side. If your truck had a 2100 it probably used a 6 cylinder gas pedal linkage.

Was this originally a 6 cylinder truck? if so you need to install a Y block front cross member.

This was a stock yblock frame. I had a visitor yesterday and he was like me--and could not figure why this 64 yblock would not work with this little 3 speed. I see now.
I am now ready (frame is done) and will most likely buy the trans, and shaft from you-Kevin....will be a while--my 53s come tomorrow--and I need some rear fenders and running boards 1st--for 56f100 no.1.
Those boards you took off the race truck--are they usable? I have 1 decent 1 and 1 crappy 1.
So let me recamp all this--use the 292 and use your 3 speed. --BUT A THOUGHT---I just removed the steering and installed the non 3 speed on the column steering from the f600--and I like it. Maybe the next truck -56 no.2 will be a yblock with 3 speed then.
Also--what is involved in repairing a spun cam bearing? The man I spoke of earlier claims 90 percent of the time--that is the problem--and I think it is just needing adjusted. I just bought a tappet tool for yblock but will want a pro to adjust it. I am no mechanic-LOL thanks Kevin!!
