I'm sure Wal Mart brands are made in China, so which brands are made in USA? The one I got is made in Taiwan and goes to 150 PSI and just basically went nuts on me. It just pops out to about 140 PSI no matter what tire (car, truck etc.) I check.

 

just because they are SOLD at wal mart doesnt mean they are MADE by wal mart or in china. k mart sells craftsman tools, but that doesnt mean they make them. they are still made by sears, in the usa. wal mart sells campbell hausfeld air tools. which are made in the usa. the same ones you would buy in lowes or home depot. but neither of them sell tire gauges.....which is why i recommended wal mart.....because they do carry the tire gauge.....

like i said, if you go to the check out ailse or the key cutters table, they have cheap ones made in china for about a quarter. you can take 10 readings with them and get 10 different results. but if you buy the name brand version they last longer, are built better and are accurate. just my 2 cents here, but i would trust a company that makes air tools to make a gauge that measures air pressure......

 

Did research on the net for tire gages and found that the Digital gages were the most accurate within a reasonable price. Accutire was the most recomended. I bought mine at Sears and bumped it agains my dial gage and found them to read within 1/2 lb of one another from 20 psi to 80 psi. I paid less for the digital than my dial.

 

Kmart sells Craftsman tools because they've owned Sears since 2005.Craftsman tools have been made by a number of U.S. manufacturers over the years and up till the mid 80's they were made by Stanley but now they're made by Danaher who also makes the K-D brand

 

you have that backwards. sears owns kmart. from their webpage-The tools are sold in Sears, Kmart, and Orchard Supply Hardware stores (all three owned by Sears Holdings Corporation).

but my point is just because wal mart sells something does not mean its a wal mart brand product. wal mart sells playstations, but is anyone saying they wouldnt buy it there because its a wal mart brand product? my other point is that just because someone wants to make a tire gauge doesnt mean theirs is the only one that works. yours may be exact every single time, but i can take 20 readings with mine and every one of them will be within a pound or two of each other. not everyone wants a liquid filled, home made, exact to the 1/2 lb tire guage to tell them they actually have 49.5 psi when they think they have 50 psi...... if i ever get to the point that im worrying about a half a psi in my tires, ill find another hobby or something....

just trying to save the guy some money. and trying to explain to him that, contrary to what he thinks, the wal mart gauge is NOT made in china. and that its not even a wal mart brand, its just sold there. but others in here seem to think that their gauge is the only one in the world that works.

i recommended going to wal mart and buying a good, made in the usa, accurate tire gauge for a very reasonable price and get the following replies.

"go to home depot and spend 5 minutes building you one with all the small parts needed! it doesnt take long and MUCH more accurate than those cheesy $.50 gauges found at walmart."

cheesy?? ok, please explain to me what makes a CH tire gauge cheesy? just because it isnt home made it somehow doesnt work? if you want a top of the line tire gauge, jegs has some back lit, illuminated, liquid filled, digital, accurate to a tenth of a psi, shock resistant, etc tire gauges for upwards of $120 dollars. and the home made ones.....you improve on a store bought tire gauge by making it bigger, more easily breakable, more expensive, AND you have to have put it together yourself but mine is cheesy??

youre SURE the one at wal mart is made in china? without even seeing the one i recommended?? you ask for one made in the usa and i tell you one that is made in the usa and then you tell me you know its made in china without even seeing it?

so my gauge is no good huh? most people use light duty tire gauges, up to about 75 psi. so i recommended the two that fit that bill. if you wanted a recommendation on some that go up over 80 psi all you have to do is ask. no need for the "well there you go, see, im right" attitude. its really not all that hard to find a good tire gauge, for anything. if you buy a GOOD slider style gauge it will work just as good as any dial, digital, etc. it wont get within a tenth of a psi like some of the digital ones, and it doesnt have all the fancy back lighting and all that other stuff, but it still works. who cares if it says 50 psi when you actually have 49.7

Intercomp pn#360078. This one is 0-100psi. It is about $70. I don't have this particular one but I do have an intercomp 0-15psi I use on my racecars and they are very accurate.
