I'll keep this short. Truck towed great, no problems. Ran like a champ all the way there, while there and all the way back. I did learn a couple of things on the trip though:
1. While I enjoy the sound of the exhaust and the tires growling, after two hours of 90-100kmh the noise does get old. Insulation, rugging, window and door seals are all needed quickly!!;
2. A full tank of gas to travel from the first exit on the US side back to the house in Winnipeg, a diesel is most definitely on the horizon....found an ad for a 1989ish 7.3 in MN....;
3. Driving the truck/trailer combo in a cross wind is still as much work as I remember;
4. The wife, the two boys and the two dogs make for a full truck!!! Need a topper and a rug on the bed to make a nice place for the dogs to ride.....(or the wife on a bad day).
The tires worked great, and look killer! Had a US border guard come up to the truck and comment on the "beast towing the trailer", lol
Only problem encountered was a broken defroster switch! Went to turn it on this morning to defrost the windows, and it was stuck in the off position, now the dash has to come apart again! Don't even consider that a hiccup, drove with the windows cracked a bit more, and the windshield cleared and stayed clear all the way back. Ears are still ringing though!!!
I got some good sound proofing stuff at home depot that was real cheap and does a good job, can't remember the name of it right now though. I can hardly hear my little six idling now.
Bouts, good to hear your rig ran well. Makes a guy smile, don't it.
As for the noise thing, OH YEAH! Sounds great, but head starts to throb after 12-15 hours! That's why the wife made my put the muffler back in the PSD. 1 trip to Yellowstone without it was enough for her.
Hey Colin, if you remeber, please let us know. That's another thing on my list.
Yeah, let me know too!! I found some places online that sell the sound deadener goes under the carpet. Going to use that stuff on the floor, rear wall, roof...anywhere else I can think of!!
