I have been looking for an older ford just too take wheeling and beat on and i find something i might be interested in and was wondering your guys opinion. Its a 1990 fullsize bronco with a 460 swap with less than 40k and a C6 with 2 k on rebuild. It has a d44 with new shafts and 4.11 gears up front and a 9 inch, detroit locker and 4.11's. Its sitting on 9 inches of suspension lift and running 40 inch ground hawgs. The body is in decent enoguh condition for what im going to use it for. and he wants 3500 for it just curious what you guys though?
Nope its all suspension it didnt have the blocks inbetween the body it was leaf springs in the rear and coils up front, what about the axles they seem a little small for 40's
and yeah it has a high pinion dana 44 up front, i wouldnt buy somethin without a solid axle up front i have my problems with the ttb on my truck and if i was still gonna wheel that itd be swapped out for a Dana 60
buy it, toss some 36s on it, then the gearing and axle strength would be about right, would be quite a machine
If it has 40 inch Denman ground hawgs, then it already has 36's (only slightly larger).
Denmans were a little exadurated when they sized them.
Most vehicles that can withstand 36 inch tires will have no problems with larger ground hawgs.
Vehicle sounds abou right if it is affordable,,,,,go for it. Always tryt o get a better deal, but you would have at least that much invested if you tried to build it yourself.
yeah it doesnt seem to bad im going to take a better lookat it and drive it tommorw after work, well i have about 6,000 saved up that i was going to use for my bronco build but he is pretty close to what i had already planned for my build, besides the d 44 and 9". I would have went with Dana 60s but figure those can be added after i break the old ones
I would def, test drive it, make sure no death wobles, make sure 4wd engages, and works. Stuff like that, i think 3500 is a lil much though. I would go 3k cash.
As refernce i was gunna buy nick's bronco for 4k, (quadzjr) But unfortunatly bad timing came up and i spent all that money at the dr.
I went and took a better lookat it and drove it today... the frame seems to be straight as can be and only has minor surface rust. The body has some tiny dents and some scratchs, but i will most likely add to those if purchased. I took it for a little drive and that engine will toss you back in your seat with no problems even with the wrong gearing for the tires!!! It drove pretty decent for the 40" tires, wrong gears and all that lift.
I will hopefully be picking it up this monday if everything goes according to planned
