Nah, the diesel will ignite with just a regular spark plug. The heater doesn't run quite right until the flame and everything heats up but after that it runs fine.

The burner in my steam cleaner uses a spark to light the diesel, and it always lights right off. Of course, I think it's ignition transformer draws more current than this while heater.

Those steam genies use a similar system to oil furnaces, at least the one I seen does. Those things have a BIG spark,enough current to potentially stop your heart.

So what has been done on the heater so far? Cleaned/replace the plug? Fuel fulters? Nozzle?

I inspected it, that's about it. The plug looks new and sparks very well, re-set the gap and indexed it the way the instructions said to, all the filters seemed clean, and it gets plenty of fuel.
I'll probably deal with it more next weekend, just this weekend I have a lot going on.
