By chance did you take pictures of the areas of the roof that had failed prior to tear off? What did you miss or fail to look at to prevent this?
Yes, I was thinking of the same thing. What to look for.
Nicely Done. Keep those pictures coming.
I found this website a few years back of a guy that re-did his "a" Similar deal. EPDM RV Roof Replacement Project
The worst area was at the rear corner. The leak was where the rubber meats the end cap. Metal trim with tape over it to seal it. When the factory put the rubber on it was stapled down. I had neglected to inspect and clean it on a regular basis (so much to do, too little time). The tape over the trim had cracked and allowed water to get in to the staples which rusted. The tape is what looks like Eternobond but I'm not sure if thats what the factory used or not. The thing that made it worse for me was that the rubber had been stretched causing a small hole at the staple for a straight shot to the wood. The leak at the skylight over the shower was smaller. It was sealed just with the Dicor sealer so I really couldnt tell exactly why it leaked. The new rubber is on now but not trimmed out yet. No staples went in the new rubber, only glue. I only have the weekends and then only if the weather is right. when I get all the trim cleaned up and ready to go back on I'll have the rest of the pics.
Sorry but I didnt take pics of the leaking areas before I pulled the rubber. The tell tell visual was the cracked tape over the seams. I would recommend pulling the trim from around the inside of your crank up vents to inspect for leaks around them. Also depending how old your unit is, reseal around everything on the roof with the Dicor sealer. I'm not positive but I think it should be done every 2-3 years. Since I never used the antenna I decided not to reinstall it, one less area to worry about. If I ever do need one the mobile antennas are not that expensive.
