just wondering what the laws stand is in sask. about putting a 1986 license plate on the front of my truck, if i still have my currents on the back. is it all good or will i run into trouble
As far as I know you can put any plate you like on the front, it is the back plate that matters. I have seen cars at car shows with old plates on the front stating the year of the car so I think you would be alright but I can't say for sure.
As far as I know you can not use a front plate that is similar to but not a current one, it has to be totally different in appearance and colour. One from 86 is the same as today's plates so I would think not. Best to find out from SGI`s phone in line or check with your local licence issuer.
Dustin, you can only have a licence plate on a vehicle that the plate is registered to. So if the 86 plate is registered to that vehicle then it is alright. Vanity plates are alright though. Good question however.
I have a 1986 plate that was last plated in 1990, and was last plated on a chevy car. I want to put it on the front of my ford truck. Since it was last plated on a chevy car, I cant put it on the front?
Not from what I understand as you can not have a front plate from 1977 and up that isn`t currently registered to that vehicle because it is the same in appearance as the current licence plates.
No problem if the front licence plate is from the 50`s or 60`s and different in appearance from current plates.
No worries, in simple terms, you can not put a regular looking Saskatchewan licence plate on a vehicle that it is not registered too. In other words the 86 plate was probably registered to some other vehicle at one time (and technically still is) so that would be misuse of licence plate.
