For de-watering I use a metal 55 gal drum that I suspend a 5500 watt 240 volt element in. I lower it down to the bottom and heat it to over 250* until it stops boiling/bubbling.
I wouldn't put it in your reactor to de-water if you have an apple seed type. I think a lot of the water vapor will stay inside as condensation. Unless the oil inside is getting splashed around enough to touch all the inside surface including the top which I doubt it is.

my processor is a lot different than any i have seen here. i designed it with the ability to dewater in it in mind.
I think AZ may need to dewater by that method, Gun. I have heard of people burning wood under the barrel to get the water out. Whatever it takes, you need to get it out.

Ya I do have an apple seed type reactor. And I was thinking along the same lines as you. I would think the water would condensate inside the reactor more than steam out the 3/4" vent.
I thought about hooking up my vacuum pump that pulls 25-30 inches to the top of the processor, BUT I'm not to confident it will give me the results I need.
After a bit more research, I may just do as you and put a heater in a steel barrel.
You CAN use your appleseed to de-water. First insulate your tank ( all my tanks are insulated) then fill it as high as you can with WVO and heat. If your still using a waterheater thermostat for temp control, change it to an oven thermostat. The oven thermostat will alow you to pre-set to about 220 deg, and will alow a much tighter control.

Wow, I like it!
So my OEM heating element should be able to handle that kind of heat?
Hmm, I'll try Home Depot or Lowes and see if I could round up an ovent t-stat.
