One of the work trucks is a 97 International 4700 and it has a 7.3 in it. Today it started running really rough, first off it is really hard starting cold and also when hot. It also has a really bad, what sounds like a miss fire, where it will being running smooth and then seem to die out real quick and then start running fine again and it does this every 45 seconds or so.
Now for the things that i have checked, for the hard cold starts i checked the GP relay and there was power in but none out, so i'm guessing that is the problem there. For the hard hot starts i checked to see if the fuel bowl was draining back and it wasn't. I then checked the HPOP resivoire and it was right and the bottom of the plug, so i think that that is good. And i have no clue about the miss firing thing, and it doesnt have an OBD2 port to scan it, it has a DLC connection.
I'm really at a dead end here and its getting frusterating. Sorry for such and long post, and i know its not a ford but i would think that the engines would be similar so maybe you guys can point me in another good direction.
Thanks, Richard
Ok, i'm not working tomorrow but i will try to stop in to test the under cover harness. To check them would i just unplug one plug at a time until the problem goes away or would i have to take the cover off to inspect them? And i will deffinetly do the CPS i forgot all about that stupid little thing. Thanks guys
