I have checked all fuses in cab and under hood. My cruise worked when my truck went done in April, but now that its running again my cruise will not even turn the light on in the dash.
Where should I start?
Any thoughts will be helpfull.
i would check out your VSS on the pumpkin on the rear differential...they are only like $15 or $20, although sometimes when they go bad they trigger the ABS light and the speedo will sometimes not work or "jump"
it could also just use a good cleaning if it has a lot of metal filings on it, it acts as a magnet
My abs light has been on almost every time I drive it now also. I also had no speedo and my overdrive light was flashing the other night. No speedo problem was reset by just stoping, shuting down and restarting, then going again.
Did you mess with anything by the brake mastercylinder? Just unplug and replug in those wires. I found that to fix mine because I was working in the area and knocked it loose. Could not get a signal to the tranny to disengage and the cruise didnt know what to do because it was getting stupid signals.

Does this all still say vss to you?
It does sound like vss. Mine was doing some of those very things. Like Nick said, it is an easy and inexpensive fix.
The wires kennedy was talking about are the ones connected to the sensor in the brake master cylinder. You will see them if you look. Plus, if there is fluid leaking out of there, its probably bad. Its also an inexpensive part from ford.
However, from the symptoms you describe, I would be going out to pick up a new VSS. Let that 10mm bolt loose and swap her right on. Shouldnt take more than 5 minutes.

I'm not sure what the cause of the problem is to turn on your ABS light, OD light flashing, etc.
But get those issues resolved and your CC will most likely come back for you.
It won't turn on until it sees everything is functioning correctly.
Even a bad brake light switch will kill the CC because it looks to the brake light signal for a command to turn off.
