So since I got my truck back I had noticed a slight rattle when stopping... I know my shocks in the front are bad so I just figured that was it... In the past week it has gone from when I'm stopping to being on a down hill, and is now almost constant. It sounds like it is coming from the clutch area. So long story short she is headed back to the Doctor today to see if they can figure it out...
Well, it probably is the throw-out bearing BUT...you wrote that you have a new engine in your truck. Tell me that there isn't a mechanic alive who wouldn't have R and R'd the clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing while the engine was out of the truck ?
Well it's not the trow out bearing that was my first thought to... The noise didn't change with the clutch in or out and if i was in gear or moving or at a stop...
Before i took it down there I got angry and started beating on stuff under the truck with a rubber mallet!!!
I hit the exhuast, no noise I hit heat shields, no noise. I hit the skid plate for the T-case........... Found it!!!!
Some how or another that skid plate had got bent just enough to hit the t-case!
So what did we all learn from this... Before you take it to the dealership hit it with a hammer a few times just in case!!!!!!!
