Got a customer with a Lexmark C920 Color laser printer. The Magenta drum lasts a couple months than starts dumping red toner on every page. The drum is not physicaly damaged and the life has not run out. If I put another color drum in its spot it works fine again. I have replaced the subframe asm but 1 month after changing it the problem is back and seems to be wors. It could be the high voltage but if it was it would most likely be affecting more than just the magenta.
This truley is a good one.
I have put to rest many HP Color Laserjet 4500's due to similar funny problems in the last year.
OK its been a while & Lexies aren't my thing, so here goes...
Sounds like there is build up at the bottom edge of the developer housing where there should a magnetic edge that catches stray particles of developer & a certain amount of toner as well. Could be a charge cororton issue that is out of spec. Could be a failing or dirty erase lamp issue. Could be a cleaning blade problem or the system that carries away the waste toner to the sump after a cleaning pass.
Like I say, I don't know Lexmarks or their construction, just spit-ballin common xerograpic problems.
Thank you for the help.
I do have the service manual but as we all know thay are useless at times.
found what i think is the problem and nothing about the eraser is mentioned.
I did find eraser parts in the parts brake down. I'll see what the customer wants to do.
