I recently upgraded the stock turbo on my 02 Excursion 7.3 to a Garrett GTP38R. The excursion runs great with the new turbo, however, I now have a check engine light (P1249 wastegate control valve performance) code! Has anyone run across this before? What exactly do I fix on a new turbo and wastegate? Any ideas/comments?????
Hey welcome to FTE and try posting this down in the 7.3 Forum but my best guess is your over-boosting and you need a over boost analyzer because the the computer is seeing over 21 PSI. You can get one here Overboost Annihilator
Thanks weekendwarriorfsw32. I appreciate the info on the overboost annihilator. I have one on order and will keep my fingers crossed that it solves the problem. It would be nice if one could plug trucks computer into a laptop and change the parameters on your own! Thanks again
I believe that tool will let you READ codes, parameters, etc. but as far as changing the boost# when an SES light would be triggered, you're out of luck. Still, a GREAT diagnostic tool!!
