'07 Explorer jerks when accelerating and decelerating.
Vehiche: '07 Explorer Limited 4.6L V8 4X4
I'm not quite sure how to explain this one. My wife and I just purchased this vehicle about a week ago and it only had a little over 19K miles on it. We've driven it around quite a bit already and we've both noticed that the vehicle seems to jerk or shift hard when you accelerate from a coast. It also seems to do something similar if you suddenly take your foot off of the gas pedal while accelerating.
Something tells me that this is not normal. That's the best way I can describe the issue. Has anyone experienced a similar condition, and if so, what was done to rectify the problem.
I did a TSB search on here and found one that seems like it might apply. The bulletin number is 0728. Has anyone had this TSB performed and did it help?
One more thing. The TSB indicates that it's for vehicles equipped with the 6R60 transmission. Is this the transmission that my vehicle has?
That symptom sounds like it could be the lockup on the tranny...it's confused and can't decide whether to lockup or not. It didn't do it when you test drove it?
Yeah it did it, but not having driven one before I didn't pay much attention to it in the short drive that we took. Each vehicle has it's own little quirks so I just figured that it was normal. Something tells me that it's not normal though.
It's still under warranty so I'll take it back and have it checked out.
I have an 06 that was doing the same thing. The computer that controls the transmission needs to be reprogrammed. The dealer should have service bulletin on this. Mine is finally fixed after many attempts but this one seems to work.
Over Thanksgiving weekend I took the Explorer in for service for this issue and they performed TSB #?? which involved reprogramming the PCM/TCM and luckily it took care of the problem. No more jerking. Now if only I could find the source of the rattle coming from the rear interior. I hate rattles.
