The trailer tail lights on my 2000 X are not sending a signal from the plug in at the receiver. I have checked all fuses and they seem to be in order. Blinkers and brakes work. Only the tail lights will not work. I have checked the tail Light signal at the receiver and there is no voltage. Seems like a fuse issue but can't find the culprit. Any ideas?
i've never looked to see how the x is wired, but in previous years Ford had a plug in connector in the rear of the truck near the receiver. you could buy an adapter and plug it into that connector for your hitch plug-in. If they still use that connection, that would be a good place to start.
I second the idea of checking the relay. If all the fuses are good and a test light on the center pin of the trailer socket doesn't light up when the the truck is in reverse then you may have a bad relay. I think the relay is located in the relay box that is closest to the firewall (there are two beside the main fuse box).
