Hey Whats Up Guys, I Had A Question If This Has Happen Ed To Anybody Else Or Just Me. I Had Just Gotten The Ebpv Removed And Was Taking It For A Spin. I Was Getting On It A Little And On About The Third Time The Turbo Pressure Was Gone And Was Barreling White Smoke Out, No Power At All. I Took It Back And Found The Compound Side (exhaust Side) Of The Turbo Guts Was Gone. The Intake Side Was Still In There And Spinning. The Shaft Had Snapped On The Exhaust Side But Left Enough To Keep The Intake Side Tight. It Is Only A 2002 With 100k Miles On It.
You can remove your EBPV, its not going to hurt anything as long as you replace it with a piece that simply doesn't have the valve. I'm just wondering what really happened here.
Timmy
my turbo shaft has broken too. I had a lifted 2003 with stock exhaust, k and n intake and edge evolution...broke the shaft in half..all I did was un plug the little red hose and plugged it onto the IC boot clamp. after about 5 minutes of un plugging it it broke.when we took the turbo out it was all still there just you wiggle the wheels inside the housing....bought another stocker when that happened, had severe turbo surge and then upgraded to an h2e
Well I Can Say That There Was A Very Big Whistle After The Turbo Boost Was Gone And That Was The Reason For The Removal. I Would Take It Out Just Because There Is A Possibility That It Could Get Clogged Part Way Open Or Shut And You Could Run Into The Same Problem I Did. The Exhaust Side Must Have Shot Out The Exhaust I Have A 4inch Downpipe And A Full Straight 5 Inch With A 6 Inch Tip It Must Have Blown Out The Back. I Am Currently Running About 26 Pounds Of Boost With Some Minimal Upgrades, I Definately Want To Change The Tuners And Upgrade The Tranny Then We Will See What It Will Do. Sorry I Dont Have Any Pictures Of The Turbo But I Can Say It Was Quite The Site To See, It Was Replaced Within The Hour So I Could Drive It.

Freaky. I'm wondering if there's a turbine wheel lodged in someone's grill somewhere...lol

Ya, had to come out somewhere... hmm
Im kinda shocked this hasnt been brought up before in the topic of an EBPV delete. Seems that if 3 or so members have had this problem (directly relating to taking off the EBPV) then maybe this "mod" isnt safe
Parkland, there are waaay too many of us running mildly moded trucks with great success for you to start worrying about it, especially with all that extra money you are going to be making.
I would think the exhaust would have been torn all to hell with that wheel coming throught the down pipe. The housing would also have been beat up as well. Guess it's possible, just don't know how it got out without some real damage.
