One to the "brain box", ground circuit thru the brain box to act like the points opening and closing, and one to the ignition switch. Well actually to a splice where it splits to allow 12 volts from the start relay for starting and a lower voltage from the ignition switch thru a resistor wire for running.
Should be a green/yellow stripe to the brain and a red/green stripe to the splice.
Sparky just for your info, later on sometime they did away with the extra terminal on the starter solenoid, and incorporated a seperate set of contacts in the start position of the ignition switch to give a full 12v to the coil for starting. I am assuming he has a later model since he must have a duraspark box.;-)
Thanks Franklin, I have to stop assuming that people are working on the "oldies"
Being thoroughly unfamiliar with those "new fangled" trucks I always revert to the older trucks technology. IMHO nothing beats a truck whose year made starts with a 7 or 6
What year did they delete that start circuit that I am so familiar with? I seem to remember fixing a few that were early eighties vintage that still were wired the same.
My 82 diagram shows it, but the 1980 doesn't. I would assume (you know where assuming gets you!) that a ford vehicle with duraspark II and a single small terminal on the starter solenoid would have it this way.
