Hi, I have a 2000 ranger, and I'm kind of confused with the wiring. From the relay goes the control(on/off)switch, battery, ground, and lamps. My on/off switch has two terminals, one that goes to the lamps, and one that goes to the battery. If the battery wire goes to the relay swith, then what goes on the battery terminal of the on/off switch?? Thanks alot.
OK I will try and describe how I think it should work....
Relay has a ground for the contact closing coil, the power to the coil should run thru the on/off switch from a fuse supplied from the battery, one power contact on the relay should go to the lamps and one should go to the battery again thru a fuse or circuit breaker.
The on/off switch send power to the coil of the relay that closes the power contacts. One side of the power contacts is battery power the other side is the lamps. So when the contacts of the relay close the lights light up. The relay is used so there isnt a huge amount of current running thru the on/off switch to power the lights.
I hope this makes sense.
