Dunking the DPF

I have taken my truck to the lake a few times this year but this time I actually noticed the exaust making noise when I backed the boat into the water, do you think I will have an issue with the DPF cooling down so fast under water? The truck isn't shut off so the water is only allowed on the outside of the exaust.

Thanks for any ideas.

Leon

Rapid cool down of the DPF could cause issues. Especially if the truck had just completed the regeneration cycle.

Are you sure the DPF is beneath the surface, and what type of noise is it making?

I doubt the dpf was in the water, he would have to be awfully far into the water for that. Most likely he meant the exhaust tip is in the water and making noise.

It was a hissing noise when the the tail pipes went under water that I heard but I crawled underneath to take a look when I got home and there is no way that the DPF was under water as I wasnt in that deep.

How deep are you getting the truck?!? The boat should go in the water, not the truck, unless you want to do rear bearings often and a lot of preventative maintenance.

As long as the DPF does not get submerged you will be fine.

I bet the odd hissing noise you're talking about was the heat from the tailpipe and exhaust gases coming out from the inter cooler vents on the tailpipe section.

I have to agree with STD. Ir could not find a way out so it found the next best location.
