Under-bed Tool Box

All: Have refurbed my passenger-side under bed tool box, and in that process had to remove drop-down door hinge pins. Now looking to replace them. Believe diameter is 3/32 or 1/8inch. Would like to replace with brass or stainless to prevent pin-corrosion, but unable to locate any correct-size hinge pins. Any suggestions? Thx. Jeff

Perhaps brass brazing rod would fit?

You could buy the material (an 18-8 sst is pretty soft and easy to work with) from Grainger or McMaster and peen the ends to keep the pin from falling out. I'm not sure how to put a nice looking swedge on the end. I know the Grainger and McMaster have piano style hinges, but they might not be anything like what's in our trucks. Have you tried looking at local hardware stores?

Salvaged a tool box from 'pic n pull' might say it was my lucky day. In process of doing same in restoring the box, considering using pressure blaster with extra find media to clean up hinges then apply lubricant. Worked on my vent doors that were originally frozen shut. Sounds like great suggestions, have to go online and check out Graingers, McMasters, or Fastenal for hinges and possibly remove the pins. Using stainless, or brass welding rod also sounds like a good alternative. Attempting to locate the gasket between bed and box, sent a piece to 'Restoration Specialties' and they sent back sample that was close but not same, still looking. Opp's, sorry!

I was about to ask what was used to replace the gasket around the tool box door as I'm sure it is weathered and cracked like the ones on the two boxes I have.
