Running Boards Wiring

I have a question that shouldn't be too hard to answer...I bought a used truck with running boards already on. They have lights on them. I want to take them off. Is it ok to just clip the wires near where they hook up to the electrical system? Does anyone else have these kind....J&J Enterprises? They look like they came with the truck and they added them when they put all of the stuff that comes with a centurian package. Also, if I do just clip them off, will this affect whether or not someone can use them if I were to sell them? Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.

Where I live we have yearly inspections. And if the light is installed, it has to work. Since they are not original, you could take them off completely and they would pass inspection in my area. Just something to watch out for, each area of the country is different.

One other thing to condider is if you just clip the wires you will have an open circuit waiting to close. ie... bright flash under your running boards or a blown fuse. Cap the wires with a butt connector or follow them to the fuse block or light switch and remove them. Just some advice.
