Anyone use B99

Does anyone use B99 in their 6.0? Any problems, or anything that needs to be addressed before use? Thank You for your input.

i have used b99 in my truck and notice it runs super smooth. trucks had some injector problems but some of that was kind of my fault for not changing the fuel filters soon enough and also i think the bio i was getting wasn't completely processed and had glycerine still in the fuel. this completely plugged my fuel filters which caused the injectors to starve for fuel.

here are a few older threads that i posted in you could check out:

Thank You for the reply. I read both threads, and found them interesting. I can't believe there aren't more curent users of B99 though.

With me it's an issue of availability, which might change in the next year or two as the mandated biodiesel requirement goes up. I had looked into making it myself, but having to worry about supply issues and having the room for the equipment and then having to spend time making it while I'm running a business just makes it too hard. Otherwise I would do it in a heartbeat.

hey Bb, just bought a 04 F-250 6.0. going bio but only at B50 so far while I get a feel for the condition of all systems. Truck runs great but super bad mileage so I am starting to check out all the threads for ideas about fuel economy. I'm at 10.5 avg. and good a Ford truck friend says I should be able to squeeze 20mpg. So far starting on the CCv reroute and EGR bypass deal. Etc, Etc.
I get bulk delivery of B100,( B99) and have been running it for a year or so. I am building a processor so this truck is part experiment too. It has turned into an expensive experiment unfortunately. Wasn't prepared for the high maintenance cost of this truck. But I have to admit, this truck is built like a military machine. it will probably be around long after I'm gone.
Cheers,

Dana

Since 7.3s are hard to find here, I am going to buy a 6.0 and use B100,
and possibly homebrew my diesel, I am up for the challenges especially if I can use less petro fuel.

Been runnig mine on 90% since the beginning of May no problems. Changed the fuel filter when I started just to be safe. After the first 5000/6000 miles changed it again. Looked good. I make all mine and make sure it past all test before it goes into truck. I have the prossess down good for 20gal batches. Prossessor has paid for it self. I am looking for a diesel for my wife. She will not drive an excurison or I would have one. Total cost per gallon .88 to 1.07 depending on were I get the methanol. Needless to say we use the truck for everything.

PS truck sounds better and smells better.

Just a heads up, Ford says no more than 5% bio or you risk voiding your warranty. I'm not saying I don't run more than 5%, and I'm not telling anyone else not to, I just want to make sure that people are aware of what Ford says.

I think that will change since the standards are in place for B20, but you are right, it is something that people should be aware of if nothing else.

I agree, I think Ford is going to have to loosen that up a bit. It's almost impossible for me to find diesel around here with less than 10% bio. I just think Ford doesn't want a bunch of people running home brew bio and screwing up the fuel system or engine so they said no more than 5% to cover their butts.

My fuel supplier is pulling away from the biodiesel. Myself included - folks have had problems with the bio separating in the storage tank giving a big problem in the fuel system. Exactly what happens it separates making a white slime in the tank thus plugging the fuel filters.

That is strange, what concentration is that? Was it B5 like what's in your siggy? What is even stranger is that I just read an article where they just finished a year long study of B20 versus 2 diesel and the only drawback of B20 is the lower mileage, but it was on par with the lower energy rating that biodiesel had.

I run b99.9 with no problems. The truck has a little less power and gets around 1 1/2-2 mpg less. Motor runs much quieter and smoother at idle. I just went on a trip to Lake Tahoe and all the bio distributers have dried up. One said he lost his funding and the other just said his pump is down. If we get enough users maybe it will become a bit more available to us all.
