Yes it was. Their thought is the feedstock isn't compatible with the ULSD fuels because they had no problem with the LSD fuels mixing with the B99. Their research department is looking into the situation as this was their premier fuel.

That is very possible, do you happen to know what their feedstuck is/was?

I run B100 in my 6.0 all the time, the only issue is the loss of a mile per gallon. I do make sure that I change my fuel filters every 10K. So far in 22,000 miles no problems.

Need help on 6.0 fuel mileage

My truck is only averaging 10.5 mpg. I bought it used and only have 450 miles on it but I understood 17-20 was normal for this engine. It runs beautiful as far as I can tell but I can watch the needle fall before my eyes. This may not be the right list but I am running B50 and intend to go to B100. I saw the comment about B20 costing 1-1.5 mpg and I would ask if others agree with that. Any suggestions on improving mileage would be appreciated. Here's a description of my truck;
2004 F-250, 6.0, 3:73, 33.5"tires, 6" lift, 122k miles - pretty stock truck.
Looks like original exhaust and the stock air filter isn't clean but no warning on filter indicator. Just rerouted the ccv,(lot of oil in the intake). Cleaned and checked intake boots and replaced upper(boot near turbo was blowing oil over engine). Oh yeah, I'm making these mileage judgements based on a Scanguage 2 which I think is set up well as far as speedo correction etc.
Thanks for any help in advance,

You will get a more accurate "mile Per gallon" if you hand calculate it over a handful of fill ups. With 18 in wheels, no lift, no tuner, 3.73 gears, crew cab, short box on B5 I have seen between 17 and 18 mpg with the cruise set on 70 mph both flat and hills.

2005 6.0 - biodiesel

i'm on my 2nd take of b99 and just replaced the fuel filters when the truck started running a bit odd.... now i've got a problem when more often than not the truck won't go over 45mph? it accelerates fine off the line and after the 1st shift it revs to 3000rpm and won't go higher - so i back off the throttle so it shifts up a gear. then i ease into the throttle, but my speed won't increase... so i floor it, the truck down shifts and the revs up to 3000rpm again, but no higher... i'm at a loss. i've been doing searches all over the web and found one obscure reference from edmunds.com but no solution was ever mentioned if one was found. i posted a reply there, but nothing... the thread was from back in 2006, so it was already old.

thoughts?? does any of the aftermarket systems have special biodiesel settings yet? from banks or bulldog?

Change your fuel filters? Bio will cause the gunk on the inside of the fuel talk to come lose and clog your filters.

the boost gauge moves across the dial as it normally would - its odd, kind of like the computer is detecting a condition and holding things back. i know the 6.0 is 'drive by wire' as there is no physical connection between the pedal and the engine...

There are a few things that you need to know about biodiesel.
First it acts like a cleaning agent. It will clean out all the crud in your tanks and fuel system. It will send all that crud to your fuel filters.
Second it has a high temp gel point. Depending on feed stock it will gel at 40 deg 32 deg F. It is a really good rule of thumb to give yourself a 10 deg of safety. I blend down to b50 when it is going to be in the 20's.
Third it will swell all the rubber seals. So when using it it will swell the fuel filter gasket and all the seals in the fuel system. It is best to slowly add biodiesel to the tank and give the fuel system time to slowly swell the seals. I started with around b5 and gradually went up to b99. I added around 5%-10% more bio on each fill up and I changed the filters after every four tanks.
I also don't switch from straight bio to straight dino diesel. It will put the engine in shock and shrink and swell the seals. Biodiesel also has a lower btu than dino and there will be a loss of power and fuel economy. Here is a good place to learn everything about biodiesel.
National Biodiesel Board - www.biodiesel.org - www.nbb.org
The most important thing is quality. The biodiesel must be the best quality! The 6.0 psd is really finiky about fuel quality.

I finally took it to a shop familiar with both... the truck was starving for fuel. so they pulled the fuel system apart where the filters are and cleaned everything out. Its running great now! azbiodiesel.com even took care of the charges - great group of guys and extremely helpful!!!!!!!

You've been a member here for over 3 years and only have 6 posts? Where have you been??? In case you don't know, starving the injectors is really bad for them, keep an eye on them.
