My passenger-side headlight does not turn on very often, but the driver-side headlight does not have any problems. The passenger-side headlight *will* turn on eventually, usually it does after 5-10 minutes of driving. I'm not sure if its the heat of the car or wind that changes something to turn it on. Sometimes I can just punch the headlight and it will turn on, but that only works about 25% of the time. Is this a loose wire? Loose bulb? Dying bulb/wire? How do I fix it?
Start with the basics. Check the headlight connector for corrosion, and make sure it fits on tightly. Also check the ground for corrosion, it should be a black wire running from the headlight connector to a metallic spot usually the rad support.
Does it do this on both high and lo beams? If so most likely ground problem. But also could be a bad bulb, as in the ground for the hi and lo filaments is "loose" inside the bulb. Could always try a new bulb if the wiring checks out. Or try swapping the bulbs if you dont want to buy a new one and it issnt the problem.

ps
Punching the bulb isnt a good idea that glass can and will break and you might get cut
What year truck is this and does it have the newer "little" bulbs or the good old ones? If it's the newer type try changing the bulb first it's the easiest and the most likely problem. Never hit the lens aside from the the fact that you can cut yourself. On the newer ones you can damage the plastic alignment adjusters and believe me you will get a rather rude surprise when you have to pay for a new one.
