I was looking to find out, since I did my header install with the original studs (mistake), what the size bolts I would need to get for them so I can buy them before I tear everything apart. Anyone know the thread size/spacing and length? Thanks.
M8x1.25 is the thread size. The length depends on how thick your header flanges are. The studs that came out of my trucks threaded in 5/8" into the head. Say 3/4" in the head plus 3/8" for the flange so thats 1 1/8" long. If your going to use a lock washer or star washer you have to plan for that. The threads should be tapped into the head farther than 3/4" but that may vary. I know the studs that Krewat pulled from his 01' were made different than the studs that came out of my 04'.
I have 1" long hex head bolts with star washers holding my Thorley Headers on.
I used the depth gauge on my dial caliper to figure the depth, added the flange, and GASKET(!), and a washer. And then subtracted about 1/8" - so yea, 3/4" is about the right depth of the hole.
I'd check the depth on ALL the holes - who knows what the factory did (or didn't do).
when you got your headers on where did you attach the egr tube that was on the exhaust manifold?
also did you notice any difference in torque or mpg's?
ive been thinking about getting the ebay headers before i install the used motor ive got,
but i have a 99 F350 with the egr & want to keep everything.
thanx

You can get the Ebay headers, you just have to get an EGR bung welded on. May want to look at the Ford Motorsport or JBA headers. Both are more expensive than the Ebay headers however you can get them with or without the EGR bung.
I drilled a hole in the 3rd primary tube from the front and welded a bung to it. My new set of headers are not going to have EGR on them. I'm removing the system and switching off EGR with my diablo tuner.
It took a little "massaging" of the egr tube but it worked.
MPG= small increase, think it was in conjunction with the exhaust setup and possibly the high flow converter.
TQ= significant increase, less shifting out of OD when towing and feels more responsive.
