Randomly Dies While Driving

96 F250 5.8 4x4 auto. Randomly Dies While Driving and sometimes won't start after sitting all day, sometimes you can cycle the key 3 or 4 times and it starts other times you have to wait 5 mins and it starts.
Sometimes it dies going down the road then restarts on it's own, other times you have to pull off the road and wait or cycle the key. 40 psi on fuel system, both tanks same thing, hot or cold don't matter. any ideas?

Could be Ignition or fuel at this point.
You need to have the codes pulled and let us know what they are.

If it is fuel it would be the pumps or regulator.
If it is the Ignition it would more than likely be the ICM or PIP sensor.

Do you have a OBD I or OBD II truck?

when you turn on the key, engine off, does the pump run for a few seconds and then get quiet?

or does it keep running.

If those codes are just from the KOEO test then it will not tell us anything about the fuel & Ignition systems.
We need the codes from CM to find out if it is Ignition or fuel.
If I were guessing I would say you have a bad FP relay or pumps.
Does it act the same when you are on the other tank?

Yes both tanks,FP relay new, It just now didn't start-- no spark--- coming out of cap, coil has spark, got ICM coming I'll put that on and see if I make it home, time will tell, Thanks for your help. This code reader works on all our other trucks(20) but when it comes to mine it won't connect, that's my luck,

Make sure the ICM is BLACK in color or it will not work well and you will have a CEL light on.
Ford Part # = 5U2Z-12A297-D OR DY1077

Although if you have spark at the coil and no spark coming out of the cap then you need a new cap and rotor or wires, not an ICM.
