The C8 has more of a kidney-shaped chamber, the C7 is a "D". It also looks like the plug is slightly less shrouded on the C7 head (again, more of a "D" shape), while the area around the plug on the C8 head is rounder.
The C8 heads shown have CJ-sized exhaust valves (1.650") and hardened seats installed on both exhaust and intake.
His intake is a large port intake, the heads are small. I never recommended he get different heads, that was his choice. I'm with you, I would have looked for a small port intake, aka "S" or a "T", 1966 and later to match the heads.
I guess I wasn't thinking straight, so I should run the heads I have and look for a different intake. I think I am following now, kinda slow some times.
