Tough choice, personally I think they are a really neat feature that you just don't see anywhere else.

cowl vent

Love mine. Used it all the time. Wouldn't part iwth it personally. Put new seal in. It closes nice and tight and when opened doesn't empty the ashtray. Not sure why others would do that. Perhaps there is something else missing under the dash?

I'm keeping mine. I think it would give great flow thru ventilation for those days when AC is too much. What I'd really like to combine the vent with is a sliding rear window, but I haven't seen one for a small window F!.

I saw a new Japanese (Toyota, Nissan ?) pickup with a rear window that rolls down and thought there should be a way to incorporate the back window off a station wagon with part of the tailgate and the channel from the roof line, or something like that, maybe the back part of one of these cabs that has crushed the front end, to get a rear window that rolls down.

That would be the ultimate in flow through, eh? Probably hasn't been done yet and would make great impact on the community when it appears.

I think it's beyond my abilities and pocketbook for now.

Since my ashtray only holds loose change (and is closed when driving)...I do not have that issue with my cowl vent.

Guess you can tell I do not smoke! LOL

No AC...100+ degree days...95%+ humidity...I am keeping mine.
