I'll try here for some help as well. After riding in my buddies K/R from FL to DE in April i wanted that dash. So i decided to go look for one in the junk yards/ pull pick places. I can grab a 07 outer dash that has the HVAC controls still in it for 100 bucks. You know the part that covers everything, like the radio and the guage cluster. I plan to sand and paint it so I want a cheep part, just in case i screw things up and my dash in not in pieces. I''m not going to spend 200 bucks from the dealer and that is with out the controls and the little pieces that go in it. I talked with my contact at the local dealer and the only switch that is different is the blower controls. Does any one know if the connection is the same *or* will I have to snag that connector and splice it in? Also I have a friend who has a friend that tried this and he ended up replacing the whole dash. I hope I dont have to do this but most of the dash is in the donor truck so I can get it if I want. I just have to buy a few things to finish the install. Can anyone help with these answers?
What year truck do you have? If it is a 2002 like your profile says, then I hate to give you bad news but it's not going to work. The dash completely changed in 05.
The radio opening is completely different, the climate control opening is completely different (and don't even think about trying to make the electric climate controls work in your truck unless you have big $$$). Pretty much anything that mounts to the removeable dash panel is different (headlight switch, 4x4 switch, power outlet, etc.).
I'm not even sure if the clips behind the plastic would line up on the two.
Someone around here tried doing this in his Excursion and gave up. I think the dash piece is probably still for sale in the classifieds section.
Well like I said I checked with my dealer and the only HVAC control switch that is different from my truck is the blower control. The other two use the same part number. The dash plug pieces like the 4x4 and lights on this one are the same. This part is out of a lower model truck so there is nothing special to the truck. I just lucked out and found it in the pile of interior parts in this one truck. I found one like mine but I would have to cut some stuff out. I might get it and play with it and see. All I have to do now is get a new aftermarket radio mount to fit mine.
You won't find a radio mount that will work. The 2007 radio is a lot bigger than the 2002 radio so an early model kit wont' fill in the hole. You could buy a 2007 mounting kit but I have no idea how you would be able to mount it to the dash because the 2002 dash structure doesn't have the 4 bolt holes where the radio mounting kit attaches.
