Hello. Just purchased a new 2006 F250 4x4 CC Lariat, V-10, auto, and am still learning all the new systems. Traded in my 2000 F250 4x2 XLT, so do know the engine and tranny, but not the new electronics. My question is if I have the climate control set to auto, does the AC need to be turned on manually so the indicator light is on? The owner's manual seems to say that when the system is in auto, it will turn the AC on and off as needed. But yesterday I tried it that way and the outside temp was in the 90's, set the auto temp at 68, the fan came on, but it was just pulling in outside air, even after waiting about 10 minutes. As soon as I pushed in the AC button, then all was cool, and the cab temp came right down and the fan adjusted itself from blowing high to medium to low. So, do I need to keep the AC button glowing? Thanks, Randy
You need to hit the auto button, then the recirculate inside air button. My A/c light seems to come on when I hit the auto button, I just have to keep hitting the inside air button everytime...
No it should come on in that situation. Mine will come on and start cooling right away. However after a bit (15-20 minutes) when the system thinks the temp id down to where you set it it will start pulling in outside air and warm up the air that is blowing out of the registers. So like Dieselpwr I hit the recirculate button so that the air stays cool and less humid.

You might have a bad outside air temp sensor. Does the system have an "outside temp" button on it? (My '97 Cougar's does)
