I went and jumped out of an airplane yesterday, and it was probably the single greatest experience in my life. I didn't do the tandem jump either, I went all out and did a solo for my first jump .
After doing 5 hours of ground training, they took us out into the plane and took us up to 3200ft. Once we got to 3200ft, we climbed out onto the wing strut and hung off it, then let go! The only hairy part was when the lines of the parachute got twisted opening. But once I got them untwisted it was the most amazing feeling floating around a thousand or so feet above the ground. We were equiped with a one-way radio and somebody on the ground talked us down. I now have my first jump certificate and can continue to increase my jump altitude until I get my licence.
I love the adrenaline rush you get when you do things like this!
i dont carry the bullets to do such a thing, but my hats off to you.......jumptown usa was litterally in my backyard........i could here them whistling down through the sky till there shute opened over my property in athol ma (jumptown, orange ma)
herman, if I may ask, how much was it for your first jump?
I've always wanted to skydive, but have never looked into it much. I want to so bad!
Total came out to be $250 w/ taxes, that included the 5 hours of ground school, equipment and of course the jump. I would definatly say go for it, I had a group of about 8 people who wanted to go when I originally came up with the idea, and they all chickened out. Now that they know how much fun I had they all regret not going.
As for why I jumped, it's because I'm somewhat of an adrenaline junkie, so I had to do something as crazy as this. I'm already making plans to go on my next jump.
