Rewiring Harness
Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has ever rewired their truck? I am thinking of purchasing one of those wiring kits out of the LMC catalog for 500 or so bucks that allows you to rewire everything. Has anyone done this? If so, how long of a process is it? Is there a better place to buy a kit? I am just wondering how involved a procedure this is because I have my truck at class getting the motor redone, so I have the perfect opportunity to do this. The wiring thats in their now is very brittle and definitely needs to go. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks..

The more a company advertises their product as "Universal" the more likely you will have to make modifications to fit your exact needs. Read, do your research, get on the phone and talk to these folks.
plan and execute.
Good luck

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Mar-02 AT 09:01 PM (EST)]Ford has been real good at keeping there color codes constant over the years this allows you to remove a harness from a much later year ford
and strip all the wire out of it.This will give you a good supply of the correct color coded wire. This is something that i do not think you can get anywhere else. Also you can get newer clips and wire holders off of the donor vehicle. Many of the plugs such as headlight and turn signal also will work.Simply cut out the bad wire and replace it soldering the connections. Then retape it like original. You can make a very good looking job using this method. In my opinion much better than a aftermarket harness.I have stacks of old wire harnesses from vehicles that i have parted. They come in handy.Good luck on your project
