If it were worth preserving, why didn't the original owner? Who can afford to drive one of these if it were restored?? You see the fire wagons going for less than the value of a cab all the time, for these and other reasons.

Heck, he could have kept it in one piece and we could have formed a relay to bring it home...Oh yeah, that was tried before.

Sorry, I just had to be a smart a$$

Bob - I haven't heard the story...is there a link someplace? We used to do that with GoldWing motorcycles - hop them across the US...we were all set up to do one, when he wrote us all and canceled - seems the owner took it for "one more spin", and totaled it!

Where in California is that? I lived there 1/2 my lifetime...25 years. And, I didn't see a whole bunch of F800's sitting rotting along the highway....and believe me, I looked! I had a lot of antique cars, over the years, while I lived there.R
What I meant was ALL old big trucks, not just Ford's. In the Central Valley, there's everything from Autocars to Morelands to Stewarts to White's...1000's of them.

Most are either on ranches, farms...out in the back 40, or in junkyards.

In major metro areas the average single family home's lot size is less than 10,000 square feet total. Where could one park a rig of that size?

It's tough enough finding storage for the average pickup or most cars, because the current going rate for a ONE car garage rents for $200.00 a month...if you can find one.

Storage units can be had for a C note, but try getting in/out of the vehicle when you drive it in/out. One has to be a "string bean" to be able to enter/exit.

I have 7 old rides, one is a prewar Packard V12 on a 148" wheelbase, over 20' long. I've had a heck of a time over the years finding a place to put this monster. I finally acquired an old body shop in a run down area to park all this scheiss, not to mention the 100's of porcelain signs, NOS Ford & Packard parts and other assorted crappola I've collected for 50 years.

I've always wanted a Packard or Pierce-Arrow truck from the late teens or early 20's, but both are so huge, they won't fit thru the door of my storage building, and it dates from the same time frame.

Plans for the half a f800:

I need the hood scoop for the f100 I race, so I may even use the whole hood.

It has the ORIGINAL headlights, you say so what! I have offered rewards for the original headlights in the past with no responses. The ones I'm talking about have a logo in the middle that says 12V and at the bottom it says FoMoCo. These lights were ONLY used on production vehicles 1956 and 1957 as in 58 they went to the quad light system and when they went back to single system in 61 the design changed. So you tell me for my restored 56 bigwindow where I couldve found a nicer pair. All the T-bird guys with their 100 point rersto jobs want these. I estimate they are worth $500.00 for the pair.
There are very few trucks out there that are correct for everyone to see and as nice of a truck as this f800 was it will make my f100 just that much nicer and correct. Heck even Bob C with the sweet meadow green 56 that was inside at the supernats only had ONE original light.

It has the 5 speed trans DIR direct drive and I always wanted one in my F600

It has custom cab trim, both visors, dome light, door handle escuhions, custom cab seat (there is a difference) and many other doo dads.

So yes it will be used but it will be used no more, as I have no more room with 7 yes 7 1956 fords here.

bump bump bump another one bites the dust yea!

Are they the original seal beams? If they have two "****" on the top spaced apart for the headlight aiming mechanism used by garages, they are not the originals. The originals are smooth.

The sealed beam with the "****" on top were not available until 1960: CODF-13007-A (later C0DZ), which replaced the original 1956 part number (B6A-13007-A).

At some point, I don't recall when, the script was in the center of the seal beam. My '65 F100 has a pair of this type...with the ****. They are Ford originals, but not the originals.

I know this because I bought the truck brand new.

While most cars/trucks had dual headlamps in 1958, some didn't. All the P Series Parcel Delivery's had single lamps from day one till the end of production.

The first Ford car to return to the single lamp system was the 1960 Falcon.

Ford used the same C0DZ FoMoCo script headlamps thru 1968, when it was removed and the part number was then changed to C9UZ-13007-A.

The original 1940 6 Volt seal beams (O1A-13007) have F O R D in embossed block letters at the bottom of the lens.

Ford replaced this seal beam in 1955 with the script type: B5A-13007-A, (then B5AF, and later, B5AZ).

Someplace, prolly in Hemmings, I've seen repro's of these script 6 & 12 volt seal beams.

Bill,
I looked and they are smooth, I currently run fomoco script embossed lights, I used to run fomoco script etched both are incorrect for my vehicle when new. They both were later ford production or replacements.

These are the real deal with the fomoco that looks like this F o M o C o across the bottom. The others I mentioned have the script in the center.

Steve-Buzz

It was a real challenge getting them together as 2many56's was in from out of town and they played real well together for a while!

Wow, what a find! Mine will never be that accurate, but you never know - I've been pretty fortunate so far, with FTE'ers helping tremendously. I think one of the few things I'll still have to find, is a rim for my F2, but that shouldn't be TOO awful hard, I hope. Mike found me a spare tire carrier, and that was one of the only things I was anxious to find.

Congrats! I'm a "stocker", and love to see a plan come together!

F-800s are pretty cool!

I wish I had found one.

Kevin, are (safe) wheels as hard to find for them as they are for 5Lug BUDDs for the older F600's etc?

Yes it just cleared the trailer fenders, rubbed one side and had about 1/2" of room on the other side. We had to go 50 miles and we never went above 45 MPH. I was worried about the trailer tires getting hot with all the weight.

The wheels on this truck: one is a split ring 20" and the other is a 22.5" tubeless. I dont know if they are rare or not.

I hate to see a big truck get cut in half, but I'd much rather see one get cut up in order to 'live on' as parts for other trucks, as get cut up and head to the scrap yard.

Just out of curiosity, did you save the panel that looks like fire- body controls and connections? If nothing else, it might make an interesting conversation piece.
