My truck has some coil issues at the moment, I have tried 2 other coils from the junkyard and my only other option is ordering one from NAPA for $46. The original coil was fried from the original owner trying to jump start the truck with a 12V system. I want to keep the 6V system because I like originality. The coil has power on both terminals, but no power leaves it. I am going to guess they were all junk coils and buy a new one, which will hopefully make her run. The engine turns over with ease and should run if it gets power to the points. I am going to need a new dash for it, the lower portion is rotten and I need cab corners. What I would like to know is if the cab corners, windshield and dash are all the same in the F and C series, seems how they are trouble spots...as well as a driver side window. The truck has no brakes what so ever, the pedal goes straight to the floor. Trouble shooting would be appreciated, these are only the first few questions of many.
I went transmission hunting today, looking for a better unit to replace the T-98 4 speed in my truck. I found a regular 5 speed and a 5 speed direct drive, neither quite what I want. I was looking to find a OD unit to help out with fuel economy and make the truck move a bit faster. I know I am getting way ahead of myself, but there is nothing wrong with some research. The 53-56 transmissions should all be interchangeable, right? I just need to find a way to change my shift lever with the donor tranny's so the stick can move without hitting the seat. That's all for now, thank you.
