Body part questions

- I have been searching for a new radiator support for my 1966 F-100 2wd and the LMC Truck catalog only has 66's in 4wd. Now I know LMC isn't always 100% accurate so is there any difference btw. a 2wd and 4wd radiator support in a '66??

- Another question does any body have an idea where to get new floor pans for this same truck mine are rusted out and I can't find any??

I think the 65-66 4x4 used the same support as the 61-64 2x4 and the 65 and 66 2x4 are both different. Last I knew, no one repoped them.

1966 F100's with 4WD use the same radiator support as 1965 F100/250's with 2WD = C6TZ-16138-C

1965/66 F250's with 4WD use the same radiator support as 1961/66 F350/600's / 1961/64 F100/250's with or without 4WD / 1965 F100's with 4WD: C2TZ-16138-G

1966 F100/250's with 2WD use a one year only radiator support = C6TZ-16138-B.

The radiator support questions in this forum have prolly been discussed more that any other topic.

I've typed ALL the 1961/66 F Series Truck (F100/1100) radiator support part numbers and what they fit prolly 20 times.

as for the floors how worried about originality are you? i got a sheet of weldable steel bent it into the shape of the original and welded it in. cost of about $15. but i''m on a budget with more time than money.

i figure it'll have a rubber mat over it any way, and i just didn't want to fall through ;-)

The only thing wrong with part numbers, is that their not stamped on the support. Unless you removed it yourself you don't know for sure until you get it in your hands. Is the part number stamped anywhere????

You can make a 61-64 fit a 65-66. It ain't rocket science. It's a matter of removing some of the brackets from your rotten support and welding them to the new replacement. The reman ones, it simply isn't cost effective for them to make 3 versions when those extra 2 versions only fit one year each.

Search a bit and you'll find specific details on how to do it.

Also, be sure you inquire with ALL the parts vendors as to what is available. Not everyone carries the same parts (particularly sheet metal repair items). LMC is only one choice. Carolina Classics, Flashback F100s, Dennis Carpenter and NPD are other choices.

carolina-classics.com / page 13 in their catalog shows the floor pans.

Green Sales (800-543-4959) has four of the following radiator supports NOS. See post #3 for what these fit: C2TZ16138G

Rick (Carolina Classics) Stamps the floor pans for the 61 to 64s, His pans are resold by most. Rick also stamps the front A pillar lower support replacement piece in left and right, and the front cab mounts for 61 to 64.

The 61 to 64 and 4x4 core suppoets are easily modified to fit as ddavidd explains. PM Banjopicker as he purchased one of the first units sold by the maker and had it modified to fit a 66. Looks stock and if you stencil in yellow paint the part number even a purist cant tell....

And if you do not want to mess with the radiator wings just buy a 4x4 radiator for a F250 65 or 66 with a FE or a I6........Its so simple its diabolical.....and no ammount of ford part number research will give you that tid bit....

Heres the way to ID the core supports...all easily done with a quick visual...

first...the 61-4 et.al supports have the curved fender aprons.
The 65 2wd et.al support has different radiator mounting compared to 66 2wd trucks...the 65 has flanges that are about 3-4"wide that go straight back towards engine.

The 66 2wd et. al support has NO flanges that go towards the engine as the 65 does...65 and 66 2wd trucks use the same angled fender apron.

These parts have no p/n stamped on them

FYI, the battery trays are also different between the 65 and 66 2 WD supports as well due to the flange difference which also makes the radiator straps different also.
