I finished removing my factory plastic steps and installed some nerf bars and decided to check out my pcm to see how hard it will be to install a dp. My pcm has papertowels between it and the bracket with a ty-wrap holding it in place. It also has remnants of duct tape on the end where the tuner appears to connect, leading me to believe there was once something connected. My question is shouldn't it screw to the bracket instead of the ty-wrap holding it? If so, I don't think this is the original pcm because I can't see anyway to attach it. Any thoughts? It's a 2000 model.

Is it missing the black frame that bolts to the side under the dash? There is 2 bolts that hold it there and one under the hood that connects the wiring to it.
It does appear that there is a black frame it is sitting in and there is a ty-wrap going around the frame and pcm. They have put a paper towel or something like that between the frame and pcm. It just looks like something is missing, like something should screw in over the pcm to hold it.
I think I have it figured out going by what you guys have posted. There should be a black cover that goes over the pcm and screws to the black mount that hold the pcm?

Look at page two of these directions. Your PCM mounting should look like this:
Thanks Chris, I'm missing the black plastic cover with the two screws. I went out and looked at a co-workers truck just a minute ago and saw the cover on his. Guess I'll try to find one. Thanks for all the information!
I don't think there is, but I haven't removed the black plug on the end of the pcm. I don't know much about the chips. Do most of them have wires coming out for the switch?
